PROPERTIES SUPERVISOR
Dates: ASAP – September 21, 2025
Compensation: $650–$725/week, commensurate with experience
Includes: Housing and travel stipend


Theatre By The Sea is seeking a skilled and reliable Props Supervisor to join our team for the 2025 season. Most props are already built, so the primary responsibilities will include running shows (8 performances/week), maintaining and repairing props as needed, and acquiring any new items during the rehearsal process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain and repair props throughout the run of each show
  • Run props backstage during performances and coordinate with Stage Management
  • Source and acquire new props as needed during rehearsals
  • Keep props storage and backstage areas organized and safe
  • Ensure all props are used safely and consistently
  • Supervise any props assistants or backstage crew assigned to the department

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Prior experience in props supervision or backstage run crew preferred
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot under pressure
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused

LEAD ELECTRICIAN
Duration-May 5, 2025-September 21, 2025
Salary-$750-$850 weekly commensurate with experience
Housing provided if needed
 
SUMMARY: The Lead Electrician works in conjunction with the rep plot designer to specify, plan, and install the lighting package for the summer season. During the four-production season, the Lead Electrician is responsible for running the lighting console for all four productions, designing and running the console for approximately XYZ one-off theatre for youth productions spread throughout the summer, maintaining the rep plot, and responding to show specific needs such as specific specials not covered by the rep plot, practical wiring, etc. Programming opportunities exist depending upon the lighting designer expectations and experience level of the applicant show-by-show.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND SKILLS:
  • Timely arrival to all work days, calls, etc
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks and communicate those priorities and plans to the entire production team.
  • Assist and collaborate the rep plot designer with specifying and planning the installation.
  • Work with TD and Production Manager to assess, plan, and execute show specific lighting solutions such as specials not covered by the rep plot, practicals, etc
  • Ensuring that all possible lighting work is advanced and prepared to facilitate efficient changeovers
  • Work with TD and Production Manager to plan changeovers
  • Maintain all lighting documentation throughout the season
  • Assist TD and Production Manager along with deck crew regarding installation of soft goods, hard portals, and similar during changeovers.
  • Working knowledge of the ETC EOS/ION console family as related to show running, soft-patching LED and moving fixtures.
  • Experience and comfort working at heights on ladders and personnel lifts to hang and focus lighting fixtures
  • Working knowledge of Lightwright as related to tracking instrument numbers, channels, etc.
 
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Programming ETC EOS/ION console family
  • Advanced knowledge of Lightwright as related to producing pin-patches and tracking constant power channels and relays
  • Experience as a stage manager, follow spot operator, or similar such that one can provide feedback to follow spot operators to ensure continuity throughout the run
  • Interest and experience sufficient to lead show specific focus calls and show specific work such as hangs or moving an electric from one line to another.
  • Experience rigging and with hemp style rigging in particular

COSTUME SHOP MANAGER
Weekly salary- $750-$775- commensurate with experience
 
Seeking a costume shop manager for the 2025 season.
 
Season includes
ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE- May 28-June 21, 2025
WAITRESS- June 25-July 19, 2025
HAIRSPRAY- July 23-August 16, 2025
HEARTBREAK HOTEL- August 20-September 14, 2025
 
Candidate must have good communication skills
Good organizational skills
Be good at time management
Have strong sewing skills
Have knowledge how to fit garments
Have a knowledge of a variety of sewing machines
 
Responsibilities:
  • Read scripts and meet with directors
  • Organize costume packages in preparation for fittings
  • Schedule fittings with stage management
  • Conduct fittings
  • Instruct stitchers in alterations
  • Load costumes into theatre
  • Be present at all techs- get notes from directors, choreographers
  • Manage completion of notes during tech
  • Make purchases for show and shop needs
  • Keep to a budget and organize purchase receipts and returns
  • Manage a costume shop with a staff of stitchers and fitters
  • Get shop ready to open before season and get shop ready to close at end of season
  •  
Having a car is helpful as you will need to travel between the costume shop and theatre at times.
