COMPANY MANAGER - Immediate Replacement
DESCRIPTION
Seeing an experienced Company Manager for the 2023 season at Theatre by the Sea in Rhode Island. .TBTS employs Equity and non Equity actors. Candidate must be a hard working team player with a strong work ethic and sense of humor.
Should be prepared to work long, odd hours at times. Candidate should be willing to assume other job
responsibilities if called upon to do so.
A valid drivers license and clean driving record is a must as is the ability to drive a 12-15 passenger van.
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the coordination of travel and housing assignments for actors and guest artists as well as preparing and arranging hospitality for up to 55 people. In addition the Company Manager will monitor and help in maintaining/cleaning the Company Housing. Company manager will also be responsible for doing the changeover of rooms from one show to the next as needed.
Both the Company Manager and Assistant will be responsible for driving actors to and from all rehearsals and performances as needed.
Assist with the Children's Series and Monday Night Concert series, hospitality, travel and housing.
Supervising and working closely with the Assistant Company Manager.
Petty cash reconciliation, preparing workmans comp forms and accident reports. Scheduling doctors appointments as needed and taking people to the hospital if needed.
This job requires excellent people and organizational skills and a knowledge of theatre and basic AEA rules. Excellent computer skills required as well.
Company Manager will also at times work with and report to the Producer, Artistic Director, Associate Producer, General Manager, Production Manager and Stage Mgmt to ensure that the artistic and administrative standards and policies of Theatre by the Sea are maintained.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Discusses assigned projects with Costume
- Designers and Costume Shop Manager/ cutter draper.
- Sews assigned costumes by hand or machine.
- Helps in the supervision of the Costume Shop volunteer apprentice and overhire technicians.
- Facilitates the construction and alteration of costumes on a scheduled deadline
- Tailors or alters costumes, as needed.
- Assists costume fittings as needed and work to maintain the integrity of the costume design.
- Assists in the restocking or reorganization of costume warehouse and other storage areas.
- Works with the Costume Shop Manager to ensure all production deadlines can be met.
- Assists with cleaning and maintaining shop equipment.
- Assists with stocking and monitoring costume shop supplies by communication with shop manager.
- Maintains a safe working environment based on OSHA standards.
- Maintains The Phoenix Theatre Company production integrity.
- Executes costume crafts as needed.
- Support the wardrobe team in notes, repairs and strike when necessary.
- Helps prepare fabrics for built garments/cutting.
SKILLS AND TRAINING:
- A degree in costume technology/fashion or equivalent experience in regional/professional theatre or related fields.
- Excellent garment construction skills
- Able to follow precise directions in a timely manner
- Willingness to adhere to the production standards of Theatre by the Sea.
- Strong Organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills
- Ability to work in a diverse team and under strict deadlines

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Electrics Interns assist in the realization of the lighting designs in all three venues, including maintenance and hanging/focusing of lights. During tech, interns serve as a board operator in one venue and work with the Master Electrician and Lighting Designer to program the show. During the run, interns assist with changeovers and work with staff to complete necessary maintenance and repairs. Experience with basic theatrical lighting equipment, the ability to lift/carry 50lbs, and work at heights up to 30'; (on lifts, ladders and/or catwalks) is necessary; some experience working with ETC EOS family consoles is preferred.
- Ideal candidates for the Lighting Apprentice are team players: positive, flexible, eager to learn, work collaboratively, and value and practice anti-racist and anti-oppressive (ARAO) efforts.
SKILLS AND TRAINING:
- Experience with programming and operating lighting console (ETC Ion);
- Proven interest and skills in standard lighting techniques and practices;
- Ability to work on multiple, overlapping productions, and projects with grace;
- Excellent inter-personal, organizational, collaborative, and communication skills;
- Willingness to learn and adhere to industry and OSHA safety practices;
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance;
- Comfortable working at heights ranging from twenty to thirty feet from floor level, and may often call for the use of genies, scaffolding, and ladders;
- Ability to work in tight, awkward spaces is necessary;
- Ability and willingness to work long days with irregular schedules with positive attitude;
- Valid drivers license with clean driving record;
- Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical power distro inventory and assess other electrical needs.

- Collaborate with the director, scenic designer, and production team to determine the prop/property needs for each production
- Source, acquire, and/or create props/properties for each production
- Manage and organize the props/properties storage area
- Maintain an inventory of all props/properties
- Attend all technical rehearsals and ensure all props/properties are in their proper place and functioning correctly
- Work with stage management and actors to ensure props/properties are used safely and correctly during performances
- Supervise and manage any Props/Properties Assistants or Run Crew assigned to your department

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all aspects of flying elements in the production, including rigging, flying, and maintenance of equipment using the hemp house fly system
- Develop and implement safety procedures and protocols for flying elements on the fly system
- Collaborate with other production staff to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the production using the fly system
- Train and supervise other fly crew members on the proper use of the hemp house fly system, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed
- Attend all production meetings and technical rehearsals as required
- Maintain accurate records of all flying elements, including equipment inventory and maintenance schedules for the fly system
- Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and is properly maintained for the fly system
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive experience with rigging and flying pieces in a theater setting. Experience in a Hemp House is highly encouraged but not necessary.
- Strong technical skills, including a thorough understanding of rigging and flying equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Commitment to safety and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges
