PRODUCTION MANAGER
January- September 30, 2023. Possible extension
Salary- $900-$1250 weekly- commensurate with experience- negotiable
Theatre By The Sea is a 492-seat historic proscenium barn theatre in Matunuck, RI, which employs both Equity and non-Equity actors.
We are seeking a Production Manager who is a proactive, collaborative, creative professional to manage a fast-paced production department, overseeing all production elements for four musical productions, a Children’s Series and a Monday Night Concert Series to lead us into our 90th Season.
Candidates should possess strong communication, managerial, computer and organizational skills, and have the ability to multitask and work well under pressure. Candidates should also be very detail oriented, with an emphasis on both the technical and aesthetic components of each production. Candidate must possess a kind and collaborative spirit, focused on achieving objectives within a team environment fostering creative problem solving and staff mentoring.
Salary: Commensurate with experience - negotiable
Preferred start: January 1, 2023 (season ends September 17)

Rehearsals begin May 9, 2023 for the following season:
My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra - May 24-June 11
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical - June 14 - July 8
The Bodyguard - July 12 - August 5
Jersey Boys - August 9 - September 10
Responsibilities:
SKILLS AND TRAINING:
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in production management.
• Must be familiar with industry standard software/equipment.
• Computer proficiency as it relates to current Macintosh and Windows environments.
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work on varied projects, whether physical or
administrative.
• Ability/willingness to collaborate and work as a team member, while maintaining a
positive attitude with a diverse staff through strong verbal and written communication
and organizational skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to lift 50bs, and able to climb and work from ladders.
• Must have the vision, hearing, and dexterity to safely operate in a construction
environment, operate hand and power tools, stage rigging and fine detailing work if
necessary.
• Have or obtain a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record
• This position has irregular hours with regular night and weekend responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
- Secure light, sound, and costume packages (in association with Associate Producer and GM)
- Interview/Hire/Supervise production staff (in association with Associate Producer)
- Oversee winter building of sets off-site
- Reports to and works closely with Producing Artistic Director
- Coordinate production schedule with Producing Artistic Director
- Communicate with all designers
- Discuss budget with GM and Producing Artistic Director
- Schedule, review and approve all production expenses
- Oversee lighting and sound departments including installation
- Process payroll timesheets
- Trouble-shoot technical issues during load-in, tech, and changeover
- Schedule changeovers with production team, Associate Producer and Company Manager
- Manage production budget to include approving expenses and finding creative ways to cut costs.
- Negotiate contracts with Associate Producer
