Theatre Production Manager
Seasonal: January -September 2024 (with possible extension) Theatre By The Sea is a 492-seat historic proscenium barn theatre in Matunuck, RI, which employs both Equity and non-Equity actors. We are seeking an experienced Theatre Production Manager who is a proactive, collaborative, creative professional to manage a fast-paced production department, overseeing all production elements for four musical productions, a Children’s Series, and a Monday Night Concert Series to lead us into our 91st Season. Candidates should possess strong communication, managerial, computer and organizational skills, and have the ability to multitask and work well under pressure. Candidates should also be very detail oriented, with an emphasis on both the technical and aesthetic components of each production. Candidate must possess a kind and collaborative spirit, focused on achieving objectives within a team environment fostering creative problem solving and staff mentoring. Salary: $900-$1200 weekly (commensurate on experience) Preferred start: January 2024 (season ends September 22) possible extension to contract 2024 Season Rehearsals begin May 14, 2024 for the following season: A Chorus Line - May 29-June 22 Tootsie - June 26 - July 20 The Sound of Music - July 24 - August 17 42nd Street - August 21 - September 15 Responsibilities:
SKILLS AND TRAINING: • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in theatrical production management. • Must be familiar with industry standard software/equipment. • Computer proficiency as it relates to current Macintosh and Windows environments. • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work on varied projects, whether physical or administrative. • Ability/willingness to collaborate and work as a team member, while maintaining a positive attitude with a diverse staff through strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Must be able to lift 50bs, and able to climb and work from ladders. • Must have the vision, hearing, and dexterity to safely operate in a construction environment, operate hand and power tools, stage rigging and fine detailing work if necessary. • Familiarity with a hemp house is a plus • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record • This position requires irregular hours with regular night and weekend responsibilities. Theatre by the Sea in Matunuck RI is seeking an experienced summer theatre Company Manager for the 2024 season. Season ends on September 15, 2024 and job commitment ends on September 22, 2024. Should be prepared to work long, odd hours at times. Candidate should be willing to assume other job responsibilities if called upon to do so. A valid drivers license and clean driving record is a must as is the ability to drive a 12-15 passenger van. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the coordination of travel and housing for actors and guest artists as well as arranging hospitality for up to 55 people. In addition the Company Manager will monitor and help in maintaining/ cleaning the Company Housing. Company Management is responsible for getting housing ready for the season and for changing over rooms from one show to the next. Company Management also provides crew meals during tech week. Assist with the Childrens Series and Monday Night Concert series, hospitality, travel and housing. Supervising and working closely with the Assistant Company Manager. Petty cash reconciliation, preparing workmans comp forms and accident reports. Scheduling doctors appointments as needed and taking people to the hospital if needed. Drive actors to and from all rehearsals and performances. This job requires excellent people and organizational skills, and a knowledge of theatre and basic AEA rules. Excellent computer skills required as well. Company Manager will also at times work with and report to the Producer, Artistic Director, Associate Producer, General Manager, Production Manager and Stage Mgmt to ensure that the artistic and administrative standards and policies of Theatre by the Sea are maintained. COSTUME SHOP MANAGER

Seeking an experienced wardrobe supervisor to lead and supervise the backstage wardrobe crew for the 2024 season. Will assign and supervise backstage wardrobe duties as needed, and work with stage management in the assigning of dressing rooms Must have strong organizational skills Understand garment care Have an understanding of and the ability to do quick changes Candidate should be a calm even personality able to remain cool under pressure Must have good paperwork skills Do nightly washing of costumes and in between matinee and evening shows. Get costumes ready to be sent out for dry cleaning at the end of each week Have a general knowledge of Actors Equity costume/wardrobe rules Be able to make quick repairs as needed Send costumes that need major repairs to shop Assist with the load in and load out of costumes. SUMMARY: The Technical Directors reports to the Production Manager and is one the key positions to ensure safe, fluid, and efficient operations throughout the season. Scenery is fabricated offsite in advance of the season. The Technical Director is responsible for ensuring that all scenery is present, built to specifications, and is ready for installation prior to changeover events paying attention to details such as pre-rigging flying scenery and ensuring that all necessary hardware, tools, etc are ready for installation. Build responsibilities are typically focused on specific masking solutions, modifications to scenery. SUMMARY: The Lead Electrician works in conjunction with the rep plot designer to specify, plan, and install the lighting package for the summer season. During the four production season, the Lead Electrician is responsible for running the lighting console for all four productions, designing and running the console for approximately XYZ one-off theatre for youth productions spread throughout the summer, maintaining the rep plot, and responding to show specific needs such as specific specials not covered by the rep plot, practical wiring, etc. Programming opportunities exist depending upon the lighting designer expectations and experience level of the applicant show-by-show.
