STAFF HOUSE/THEATRE INN
Rooms: The rooms have twin beds and are shared. There are dressers and places to hang clothes. The occupants of these rooms share a bathroom in the common areas of the house, the location depending on which floor you live. Some of the bathrooms have showers only. All rooms have mini fridges for you to keep items in. Please know that there is NO SMOKING anywhere in the house, and no cooking in the rooms. Concerning room size, the house was built in the late 1800’s, early 1900’s so the rooms are unique. As there is no air conditioning in the rooms, fans are provided. TBTS also provides pillows, bed linens and towels. Please note, the bath towels we provide are not as large as one may be used to. So you may prefer to bring a large one or purchase one up here.
Kitchen: There is 1 kitchen that is shared by all occupants of the house, it is large but can get crowded at peak times. Each person will be assigned a cabinet in which you may store your food. There are 4 refrigerators, all labeled with which rooms have access to them. But please do not over shop, the fridges can get very crowded. There is 1 stove/oven, 2 microwaves, a toaster, and coffee makers. Also in the kitchen are dishes, mugs, glassware, cutlery and pots and pans. It is most important that the kitchen be kept clean AT ALL TIMES. Please clean up after yourself, any spills, splats etc. And always wash any dishes and pots and pans that you use. If you see the garbage is full, empty it outside in the dumpsters.
Living area: Just outside the kitchen is the living room with sofas and cable TV. Air conditioning is provided in this area of the house.
Overnight guests: Due to liability insurance concerns, size of rooms, and lack of space, there can be no overnight guests in the Staff House.
Parking: If you drive your own car parking is available in the lot across the street from the theatre. Spaces are allotted to us in the far end of the lot. There is NO PARKING in the back lot directly behind the theatre.
Laundry and Grocery runs: We provide a weekly trip to the laundromat and grocery store.
Outside Accommodations: There are many hotels, motels and B&Bs in the area. Some give us a good rate. Please feel free to ask me if I can recommend or help you find one. Be aware that this is a beach community and it is high season. So weekends and holidays are prime times and tend to be fully booked well in advance.
Location: The Staff House is in a wooded area with the beach close by. Because of the location, nature tends to visit us, a lot. Insects and some wildlife- rabbits, chipmunks, deer and skunks.

As I said, the beach is behind the theatre. To get there we must walk down a private road that has homes lining it. As we walk this road we must be considerate of our neighbors and keep the noise level way down. This holds true for nighttime inside and out of the house as well. It may seem that no one can hear us, but sound travels faster and is magnified more out in the country. 11PM is the cut off time for loud noise.
SUMMER HOUSE

There is a dishwasher, microwave, coffee makers, toasters, plates ,utensils, cups, mugs and of course a stove/oven. There are also 3 refrigerators, 2 in the kitchen, 1 in the basement. They are labeled 1st floor, 2nd floor, and 3rd floor, whatever floor you are on, that is the fridge you use. Shop wisely, do not over shop as the fridges can get crowded.
In the kitchen there are bins for garbage and recycling. Please, when you see that one is full, bring it out back and empty it in the dumpster. Please keep the kitchen and bathrooms neat and clean as well. Clean up any spills or splats. And PLEASE ALWAYS wash your dishes and pots and pans.
Living area: There is a large living room with a flat screen TV (cable) and a dining room as well. There is also a front porch and back deck. About Theatre By The Sea
On a two lane road that winds through farm land, with the beach in the distance, one will find Theatre by the Sea. The theatre is on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2007 Owner /Producer Bill Hanney bought the theatre and re-opened it after 3 years of darkness. The 2013 Season had the theatre celebrating its 80th Anniversary.
Yes the theatre is actually by the sea, and yes the building was originally a barn. In the 1930s the barn was converted into a theatre, seating close to 300, with renovations and expansion over the decades the theatre now seats close to 500 people, in an orchestra and balcony. Over the years the theatre has presented quality musical and dramatic productions. In the 40’s and 50’s, Hollywood played a big part here with many stars from the silver screen appearing on the stage. Of late, Theatre by the Sea has had many current Broadway performers grace the stage.
The auditorium of the theatre is air conditioned, backstage is not, but most nights there is a cool breeze coming off the ocean. Backstage there are 3 levels of dressing rooms, stage level and 2 upper floors.
The grounds of the theatre are lovely. Landscaped gardens and lawns greet people as they arrive, and a trellised walkway covered with vines and flowers leads the people to the Bistro, the on site restaurant.
The natural beauty of nature makes up much of the rest of the grounds, with rabbits and chipmunks running around as the waves crash in the distance. For staff there are picnic tables and benches and a patio at the rear of the Staff House where they can relax and enjoy being at Theatre by the Sea.
